We’re all guilty of it – moaning about our situation but then not really doing anything to change it.
Sometimes even when we try and change it we probably don’t really put our full effort in.
And there are many reasons for this – not believing that we can, not really wanting to, finding it’s too much effort and easier to stay where we are. All I would say to this is how long are you willing to let this go on for – because if you don’t do it today, chances are in a years’, 10years, 20 years’ time you’ll find yourself looking back thinking I should have done that.
I know the above was true for myself so I understand it’s not as simple as just clicking your fingers and making a change. It wasn’t until I found something I enjoyed doing that I truly found myself committing and actually it didn’t seem like that much effort because I wanted to do it.
The dream / target/goal whatever you like to call it will be different for everyone. For me the main reason I wanted to make a change was in my career (find out more on my about page) but it could be more about home life, money, time with the family that is the biggest driver for you right now.
I always believe the first step is truly the hardest, taking the leap and going after something you want. Of course, it can be scary and there will all be people that tell you not to do something or to just enjoy what you have but I say why not invest in yourself and see how much better you can make your life for yourself and your loved ones.
To get started I would say just start out small:
- Identify what it is that you really want
- Make one step towards getting there each day (even if its just a quick 20 minutes jotting down ideas)
- Set the time frame you want to make that (keep it realistic, change can take time)
- Go for it!
It wasn’t until I started to see results and get where I wanted to be that I realised the only thing that had been holding me back was myself. No-one is just going to give you what you want, you have to go out and get it. Even if you don’t have the believe in yourself to do it at least have the courage to try!
